Escape routes and safety zones are time, not distance. The number that decides the afternoon is the buffer: minutes to your safety zone against minutes until the fire gets a vote. Scrub a modeled afternoon, with a wind event forecast for early afternoon, and watch what the shared picture does to that number.
A modeled timeline, not a real incident. The fire is identical in both modes. The only variable is when you can see the buffer collapsing.

The gap this closes.
The pattern repeats across the tragedy fires. An aircraft overhead with imagery. Cameras on the ridge. A crew in the brush. Collectively there were eyes on the fire, and still no shared picture: nobody knew where the crew was, and the crew had no eyes on the fire.
The gap was one radio message wide. A time buffer collapsing from a known wind event at lunch, to minutes, to negative. anyhazard.live exists so the people who need that number are looking at it while it is still a decision.
